Wenger keen on rival’s starlet

Arsenal have set their sights on on-loan Manchester City midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim.

The Norwegian youngster is currently on loan in his home country at Stromsgodset and has made nine appearances and contributed one goal.

Such is the quality of the player he has drawn comparisons with Man City’s Reserves manager and former France international Patrick Vieira.

Arsenal are the forerunners among a host of other Premier League clubs to have been rumoured to be interested in the 22 year-old including Liverpool, Spurs and Fulham.

The African-born midfielder moved to City’s youth academy in 2006 and is contracted to the Citizens until at least next summer.

Ibrahim is due to compete in Israel at the Under-21s European Championship in June where Arsenal are expected to be having a final look before lodging an official bid.

It is widely believed that Wenger has  been given a considerable amount cash to spend this summer. Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis stated, “Arsène and I have already been planning what we need to do to strengthen so we are better placed next season”.
