Wenger has back up if Valdes move fails

Arsenal are weighing up a summer move for either Victor Valdes or Pepe Reina, of Barcelona and Liverpool respectively.

The Catalan side have told the Daily Mail that they are expecting the Gunners to bid for their ‘keeper, after he said he would leave the Nou Camp in the summer, with one year remaining on his current deal.

The Spaniards have said a move would cost Arsenal in the region of £8.5million.

Failed

Wojciech Szczesny has failed to reach his potential as the Gunners’ number one, and now Arsene Wenger is looking at options to replace the Pole, after several high profile errors costing the London side a number of vital points in their quest for Champions League football.

A move for Reina has been suggested for some time, but Wenger is set to focus his aim on Valdes. Manchester United are also being linked with the Liverpool number one.

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, who played with Valdes at Barca, is “working hard” to facilitate a move to London from Barcelona, according to the Daily Express.

Henry looks set to link up with the North London club once again, this time in a coaching role at the end of his current deal with New York Red Bulls.

If both moves go through, the striker would once again link up with the goalkeeper who he reportedly still has a close relationship with.

Meanwhile, Wenger has not lost all interest in David Villa, so he may look to do a joint deal for both players.

How many times do you have to be told? Reina is not going anywhere let alone Arsenal, if he was to go to another club it would only be a Spanish one.
