Villa eye City midfielder as role model
Barry’s former club Aston Villa are thought to be interested in the English midfielder after he was told he can leave City.
The 32-year-old is the first casualty of the Manuel Pellegrini era, but a number of clubs are thought to have provided him with a Premier League safety net.
Cardiff City, West Ham United and Stoke are all thought to be interested in Barry, alongside Villa.
Manager Paul Lambert sees the former England international as a top role model for some of the younger players coming through the ranks at Villa Park.
Barry has a wealth of experience under his belt since beginning his football career at the Birmingham-based club.
He spent 12 years at Villa and made over 400 appearances for the club before moving to City for £12million in 2009.
Barry went on to make over 100 appearances for the Citizens and playing a big part anchoring their midfield.
He is also an experienced international performer, making over 50 appearances in an England shirt and playing in the two most recent major tournaments, the World Cup in 2010 and Euro 2012.
