United set to make three late bids
Manchester United are poised to make new deadline day bids to sign Ander Herrera, Leighton Baines & Marouane Fellaini.
The Telegraph is reporting that United manager David Moyes is targeting at least two new midfielders before the transfer window closes, with a renewed bid for Herrera anticipated, the Spanish media are reporting conflicting views as to the 24 year Old’s intentions.
The Red Devil’s boss said “I couldn’t give you an answer on deals and whether I am confident, but there is time left,”
Moyes added. “We will all know where we are by the end of Monday night.”
Everton have so far resisted the reigning champions overtures for their two star players, with a first bid of around £28million, and then a second bid of £38million both flatly rejected by the Toffees.
Belgian international Fellaini is still expected to arrive at Old Trafford by the close of play tonight, with United expected to having to pay in excess of his £23million release clause.
Moyes however has still not given up hope of securing his other former charge Baines, and a deal could still be agreed for the England left-back before the window slams shut.
Securing the signature of Herrera, an alternative target following a failed summer long chase of Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas, could well prove to be the most troublesome of United’s targeted deals.
Reports emanating from the Spanish media suggest that he had informed Athletic Bilbao that he wanted to stay at the club, but other reports suggest that he was keen on a move to the Premier League club should United trigger his £30.7million release clause.
The Scottish tactician will be looking to add one or two more faces before tonight’s deadline, to silence some the doubts surrounding his team after their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
