United meet with Spurs target
It would appear that the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach met with United representatives 48 hours ago, according to the paper, at a secret location in Europe, reports which have been vehemently denied by United, who currently sit 7th in the Barclays Premier League table.
Manchester United, one of Britain’s biggest and most successful clubs have endured a tumultuous first season under the tutelage of former Everton boss Moyes and they currently sit 17 points behind league leaders Liverpool with no prospect of silverware, having been eliminated from the Capital One Cup, FA Cup and the Champions League last Wednesday following a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.
As such many fans have become disillusioned with the Scot’s management of the side and as such many fans have begun to feel that the 50-year-old is not the ‘Chosen One’ after all. Moreover with an apparent £200 transfer kitty in the summer and a whole squad revamp planned, it would appear that the club’s owners may also have become disillusioned and are turning to the Dutch coach who will become a free agent in the summer after coaching the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil.
This news will come as a shock to many Tottenham fans who felt they were in pole position to appoint the Dutch coach having already made contact with the 62-year-old about replacing current boss Tim Sherwood in the summer. However United’s interest may be the reason why Van Gaal has so far been reluctant to agree a deal with the North London club, who are said to be frustrated with the former Barcelona coach.
