United make improved offer for Everton duo
The original bid of £30m was dismissed out of hand and described as” insulting and derisory” by Everton has only been increased by £8m.
United have heard nothing back from the Toffees since the latest bid for the two players but according to insiders Fellaini WILL be sold by the end of the weekend.
The problem Everton have and the reason they are so annoyed with Moyes is that they have always insisted Baines is not for sale and does not want to leave the club.
But Everton manager Roberto Martinez is however willing to sell Fellaini for a reported £25m guaranteed or with marketable extras say the paper.
Martinez has lined up James McCarthy from his old club Wigan as a replacement for the Belgian star so needs to agree a fee for the midfielder alone, with Tottenham and Newcastle both having contacted Wigan.
The Everton is hoping a bid in the range of £12m will be enough to snare the Glaswegian midfielder but Wigan are not keen and want £15 rising to a possible £20m.
The reason for the difference in valuations is due to Martinez himself having agreed to a 20% sell on fee to go back to Hamilton Academical, the Scottish club he was signed from.
So because of this Hamilton will be due another £2m on top of the £3m they’ve already received for him meaning Wigan need to drive a hard bargain to get the £15m they believe he’s worth.
