Swansea player frustrated by recent performances

Swansea goalkeeper, Michel Vorm, has revealed his dissatisfaction of watching his team being bullied by more physical teams.

Recent results, such as giving up a lead to lose against West Brom and a 5-0 drubbing against Liverpool, have provoked this reaction from Vorm.

Weak

Swansea – known for their elegant football based on an ideology of keeping possession – are not physical enough, claims the Dutch goalkeeper.

He told the Express: “Most of the other teams in the Premier League are physically stronger than us and sometimes we have to show we are not only a team who play good football.

“We also have to show the strength and power you need. The back four is not a problem, but the whole team need to do it.”

Progression

The ‘keeper feels that his team lack the hunger which other teams seem to have over them: “We have to add a physical element. You could see that we were better football-wise than the opposition, but we still lost.”

But with manager, Michael Laudrup bringing Swansea’s first ever top flight silverware, Vorm is going to have a lot of opposition if he remains adamant that his team are not performing in the best way.

Swansea currently sit  9th in the Premier League table, just seven points behind fifth placed Arsenal, so you’d be excused for thinking some might disagree with the Dutch goalkeeper’s outburst.
