Spurs squad “the best” says goal hero

England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe believes the current squad is the best he’s ever been a part of.
Having spent seven years at the club, Defoe has gone through a fair few fellow players at White Hart Lane, such as Dimitar Berbatov as strike partner and Luka Modric as playmaker.
But he has gone out on a limb and said that the current team he plays with is the best, ahead of their crunch Europa League tie against Italian giants Inter Milan.
Best
Defoe, 30, told the Daily Mail: “I think it probably is the best squad since I have been here.
“As a player I have always said when you are playing with good players it makes it easier.
“Especially as a forward, you know you are going to get chances in a game to score.”
Defoe also states that he relishes the competition in the squad and insists that he grasps every opportunity.
He added: “There are players that could walk into other top teams in the Premier League, but it is great for everyone and keeps you on your toes because you know if you get an opportunity you have to take it.
“We have that winning mentality in training – it is just a good time to be here.”
The England man looks set to start the game against Inter tonight after recovering from injury, as well as fellow striker Emmanuel Adebayor being a doubt with a knee problem.
Tottenham go into the game on a high as they are currently on a four match winning streak, they also go into the game off of a huge 2-1 win against North London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League.
