Spurs and Arsenal to do battle over ‘next Xavi’

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs and Arsenal are set to do battle in the bid to sign young talent Jordy Clasie, who has been dubbed the next Xavi.

The Holland star is currently contracted to Feyenoord but the starlet could be playing his football in north London next season if Arsene Wenger or Andre Villas-Boas get their way.

Clasie is only 21 years old and has already represented Holland at international level, he made his breakthrough into first team football two years ago during a loan spell with Excelsior.

Reported by the Metro, Wenger believes Clasie could be a perfect partner for Jack Wilshire in the middle of the park.

However, with Champions League football currently uncertain for Arsenal, Tottenham could persuade him to move to White Hart Lane instead.

The North London duo are not the only clubs interested in the playmaker, Serie A side Fiorentina are also monitoring the central midfielder’s progress.
