Sheffield side unaware of Red Devils interest
Sheffield United boss David Weir is ‘unaware’ of any interest from Manchester United in their highly rated defender Harry Maguire.
The Scotsman has stated that the England youngster is not on his way to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Express.
Maguire, 20, has made himself a name since making his debut in 2011 due to his defensive displays during his time at Brammall Lane.
The defender’s impressive performances have even earned him a link to Manchester United, but manager Weir has stated there is no truth in the rumours.
Weir told Sky Sports, as reported by the newspaper: “I don’t know anything about it, but it is great news for our players to be linked with such big clubs.”
Although Weir stated his has no idea about any interest in Maguire, he believes that it is only a matter of time until clubs start to show formal interest in the defender.
Maguire is a big player for them, and any move which sees the defender leave the club would be seen as a big loss.
Weir also told Sky Sports about Maguire: “Harry has a lot of attributes, for a young lad he has played a lot of games, and I would not be surprised if clubs were looking at him. But we don’t want to lose him.”
