Reds open talks with Midfielder
The 25-year-old playmaker has only been with the Russian club since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January. However, the free spending Russians giants are now believed to be cutting down their costs.
Anzhi also have star striker Samuel Eto’o on their books, who also earns a huge wage so Kerimov will look to cut down as much as possible to save money for the club and himself.
This news comes after owner Suleiman Kerimov is believed to be cutting back on his cash injections into the football club.
Willian has told ESPN Brazil: “He (Kerimov) made it clear that, if good bids arrive, he would certainly help us go. Now I’m waiting for a new bid to arrive in the next days from a few clubs, like Liverpool.
“If it’s really Liverpool, then it is surely a great club. I’m hopeful and very calm, just waiting for the best.”
However, Liverpool seems to be favourites for the former Corinthians star and are confident of sealing the deal.
The Reds have already captured Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas this summer.
Simon Mignolet saved a penalty in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Stoke in the first Barclays Premier League game of the season so it looks like Brendan Rodgers’ signings may pay off this window.
