Queens Park Rangers midfielder, Joey Barton, could be set to leave the Premier League side permanently in the summer, reports the Metro.

The former Newcastle United player is currently on loan at Marseille, but reports have suggested the French club do not want to sign the English midfielder permanently.

Inconsistent

A combination of his inconsistency on the pitch and his sky-high wages could force the Ligue 1 side to give up on keeping Barton on a permanent basis.

Galatasaray and Anzhi are both allegedly interested in signing the Twitter addict, who has amassed over two million followers on the social networking site.

The Turkish outfit have been to watch a number of Marseille games recently, and the report speculates that Barton has been the main reason for these visits.

Meanwhile Anzhi have been alerted to the availability of the 30-year-old but it is understood that their interest is in the early stages.

The QPR midfielder’s future at Loftus Road could be all but over even if the super-rich duo do not make a move for Barton as Harry Redknapp has no interest in bringing him back to England.
