New United signing thrilled to be there
The deal was done and now Marouane Fellaini can’t wait to join up with his new club, Manchester United.
Now the new man can’t wait to get started with his new club after his deal was announced at 2am on Tuesday morning.
After signing for £27.5 million and Manchester United’s biggest deal there will be a lot of expectation for instant success from the United faithful.
Fellaini is to be reunited with former boss David Moyes and will hope that he can help the Belgian gel into the side.
Here is what David Moyes had to say about the signing, courtesy of Sky Sports.
“I have worked with Marouane for five years and I’m delighted he has decided to join Manchester United,” said Moyes.
“He is a player with great ability and strength and I think he will make a real difference to our squad.”
Moyes spent £4 million more than the release clause in his contract, even though the clause expired this summer making this deal seem a little bit more expensive than it need to be.
The Belgian is clearly delighted to be at Old Trafford he even handed in a Deadline Day transfer request to force a move through.
“I am thrilled to sign for Manchester United.
“I have known the manager for many years now and I have a lot of respect for his way of working.
“When I was given the opportunity to work with him again, I jumped at the chance.
“I had a fantastic time at Everton and I’d like to thank all the fans and staff there for everything they have done for me.
“But being a Manchester United player is something that every player dreams of and I believe that I can make a real contribution to the team’s efforts to win trophies in the future.”
Fellaini will now go away on international duty so training with the Manchester club will not begin till next week.
United’s clash with Crystal Palace looks likely to be the midfielder’s debut.
