Serie A ace reveals Liverpool dream

Fiorentina striker Mounir El Hamdaoui has admitted that he is thrilled to be linked with Liverpool, and could be open to a move, reports The Express.

Despite only moving to Florence last summer, the Moroccan has been linked with a summer move to the Merseyside club, who are bracing themselves for numerous bids for current players when the window opens in June.

Goals

The 28-year old has played in a number of European countries in a travelled career, and has experienced the physicality of English football before while at Derby County seven years ago.

However the forward properly made a name for himself in Holland, where he has dual nationality, and scored 69 goals in 113 Eredivise appearances for Willem II, AZ Alkmaar and then Ajax.

This prolific period earned him a move to Tuscany last summer, but El Hamdaoui has failed to settle in Serie A, scoring just three times, and could be on his way out quickly.

Change

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers will have realised that keeping hold of star striker and El Hamdaoui’s ex-Ajax team mate Luis Suarez may be too great a task, with big offers expected from abroad, and German giants Bayern Munich looking the most likely to bid.

If Suarez is to leave, it would leave a gap in the Reds’ strike force that the Moroccan international would be only too happy to fill.

“Being linked with Liverpool is flattering but I really think it is paper talk so far,” said El Hamdaoui.

“Liverpool are a great club and to play there in a legendary stadium like Anfield would be fantastic and a dream. But I am at Fiorentina and I’m happy.”
