Liverpool Track Donetsk Midfielder
Liverpool are looking to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan as Brendan Rodgers builds his squad for next season’s Premier League campaign.
As the Daily Mail reports, the Armenian international has been scouted several times by the Merseyside club and they would have to table a bid of £20million to secure Mkhitaryan’s services.
The club are hoping that the Donetsk player can help the team push for a top four position this term as Rodgers guides the club through its transitional period.
The midfielder has been prolific this season, scoring 25 goals in 28 league games for the Ukrainian side and Liverpool are hoping that he can add to the goals tally for the upcoming season.
The Reds ended the season with the most shots on goal over any European club this term but have still not been prolific enough to propel them into European qualification.
With the Anfield outfit agreeing terms with West Ham for Andy Carroll, the club is likely to reinvest the £15million received for the forward straight into Mkhitaryan’s transfer.
Carroll has still not decided if he views his future in the claret and blue of West Ham, but has been told by Liverpool boss Rodgers that his future is not with the club that paid £35million for him in 2011.
