Liverpool to offer trial to striker
Liverpool look set to offer a trial to Dulwich Hamlet teenager, Daniel Carr.
The 18 year old has scored 23 goals in 23 games this season for the non-League outfit and now Brendan Rodgers looks set to make the first move to snap up the star, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reports that several Premier League and Championship club’s attention has been drawn to the striker.
Anfield scouts have been monitoring the youngster’s progress throughout the current campaign, amid interest from other clubs, the Kop manager now wishes to look at Carr himself.
His current side are eight divisions below the Reds, and should he make a switch to Anfield, it would be one of the biggest leaps in footballing history.
Rodgers is famed for his development of young players at Liverpool and his previous clubs, so it comes as no surprise that the 40 year old has been linked with Carr.
Earlier in the season, Hamlet manager, Gavin Rose, told the press: “We’d like to hold onto our boys to give us the best chance of competing in the league, which is so tight.
“’If someone comes in for them at the end of the season then we would give them our blessing as a club.
“It’s the normal attention from clubs but we’re trying not to focus on that and concentrate instead on the boy progressing.”
Hamlet currently sit third in the Ryman League South Division, while Liverpool are pushing for a top six finish in the Premier League.
