Liverpool to beat rivals to Anzhi star
Aznhi have told United that the Brazilian can leave the club this summer, reported The Telegraph, after they ran into financial difficulties.
Looking far and wide
The Red Devils have been chasing a creative midfielder all season, and are desperate to bolster their attacking options before the new season starts.
Willian is hoping to sort out his future in the next few days, and he could be one of the most exciting transfer deals of the summer and a serious statement of intent should Liverpool manage to sign him.
Should he move to Anfield it will be the second most expensive deal in the clubs history – behind the £35m purchase of Andy Carroll from Newcastle United, a deal that was financed by the £50m sale of Fernando Torres to Chelsea.
The 25-year-old only moved to Russia in January from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, but he was put up for sale after Anzhi’s owner Suleiman Kerimov withdrew a large proportion of his funding from the club – which resulted in much of the squad being put up for sale.
In all competitions last season, he made 35 appearances, scoring eight goals and assisting 15 others.
