Liverpool ready to reject new interest in star
However, the Reds are ready to reject any new offers for their Uruguayan striker, according to the newspaper.
The Spanish club have been linked with the Reds want-away star all summer but not bid has so far materialised for the striker.
Liverpool, however, now anticipate a bid from Madrid for their star now that Arsenal have shifted their attention from Suarez to Los Blancos pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria, according to the paper.
But, as the Guardian further reports, Brendan Rodgers will not sell the 27-year-old for any price and will force him to stay with the Reds for the remainder of the season.
“I’m sure there will be plenty of activity in these last number of days. It is what it is, and we will deal with it like we have during the summer,” the Guardian reported Rodgers as saying.
Relations have been strained between the striker and Rodgers since Suarez went public over his desire to leave the club.
Nevertheless, Liverpool will refuse to sell Uruguay international as they feel that they would not be able to replace the 26-year-old with a player of his quality, according to the paper.
Rodgers added: “It’s very difficult at this time [for a Suarez bid to succeed].
“We are trying to get one or two more quality players in through the door.
“If we lose Luis at this stage it would be difficult to replace him.
“There might have been a point a few months ago where there was time to do it but with 11 days to go it would be difficult to replace him.”
