Liverpool midfielder joins Premier League rivals
The 25-year-old has signed a deal at the Britannia Stadium after completing his medical on Tuesday, reports The Independent.
The Morocco international joined Liverpool from Dutch side Heerenveen in August last year, but has only made four substitute appearances in the Premier league for the Reds.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes told stokecityfc.com, “Oussama had a few options and I’m delighted he has chosen to join us.
“He’s an exciting player, who has great pace and is very direct and will certainly add another dimension to what we already have at the club.”
Assaidi becomes Mark Hughes’s fourth signing of the summer, after Erik Pieters from PSV Eindhoven, Marc Muniesa from Barcelona and Juan Agudelo, who will join The Potters from New England Revolution on 1 January 2014.
Stoke’s chief executive Tony Scholes added, “Mark identified the need to add more pace to the team and Oussama certainly fits the bill in that regard.
“He is an exciting talent and will certainly strengthen the resources at Mark’s disposal this season.”
The speedy winger spent the majority of his career before Liverpool in Dutch football, starting in the Eerste Divisie with Omniworld before spells at Eredivisie clubs De Graafschap and SC Heerenveen.
Assaidi has been assigned the number 24 shirt for Stoke, and could make his debut for the club in Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup second round home tie with Walsall.
