Liverpool ‘keeper dismisses reports linking him with La Liga side
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has spoken out over speculation that he is to join Barcelona this summer.
The Reds keeper has been touted as a replacement for Victor Valdes, who this season announced his intention to leave the Catalonian side once his contract expires at the end of next season.
However, TalkSport reports that Reina has refused speculation linking him away Anfield: “I have my contract with Liverpool for three more years and nothing has changed.
“We want to make it bigger and my future is at Liverpool right now.
“About Barca, it is only rumours and people talking about the possibilities. There are no facts and I can’t talk about that.”
“I’m satisfied, comfortable and my family are very happy. Rumors are difficult to control but it’s flattering when a club like Barca is interested in you.”
Reina is the son of former Barcelona ‘keeper Miguel Reina, he rose through the youth ranks at the Spanish side before moving to Villarreal on loan, where his impressive performances caught the eye of Liverpool.
He has now gone on to make almost 3o0 appearances at the Reds, making the first-choice goalkeeper position his own since 2005.
