Liverpool chase Premier League duo

Newcastle forward Hatem Ben Arfa is reportedly a Liverpool summer transfer target, according to the Daily Express.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is allegedly looking to sign four ‘quality’ players in the summer to make the Reds Champions League contenders.

Quality not Quantity

Rodgers has said that he is only looking for ‘Quality’ players rather than a large ‘quantity’ of players: “I am happy with the squad if I can add another three or four quality players to it. We are after quality, not quantity.”

It seems that one of the quality players is Ben Arfa, but Newcastle may need a bit of persuasion to let the Frenchman leave St. James’ Park.

Andy Carroll, who is on-loan at West Ham, may be used a bargaining chip to lure the forward to Anfield.

Defenders

The Magpie may not be the only player coming into Anfield from the Premier League, as the Daily Express have reported that Liverpool are also interested in Swansea captain Ashley Williams.

There may be an exodus of defenders at Liverpool, as Jamie Carragher is retiring while Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates may look elsewhere to resurrect their careers.

This means that Liverpool will have to replace these players, and it looks that Swansea defender Williams is the man for the job.

Rodgers worked with Williams, when he was Swansea manager, so he knows the ‘quality’ the Welshman can bring to Anfield.
