Liverpool boss pleased with summer business

Brendan RodgersBrendan Rodgers has informed the press that he is happy with what they achieved over the transfer window. SkySports have reported.

Liverpool have brought in a total of eight players this summer for combined fee of just over £50 million. They have also sold, loaned or released a total of 17 players as well.


As previously mentioned, Liverpool have acquired ther services of eight new player either on a permanent basis or on loan.

The Merseyside club brought in talent from all over Europe including Mamadou Sakho from PSG, Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo and Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon.

Liverpool have also loaned in Victor Moses from Chelsea to add depth to an already well stocked wide midfielder role.

Despite spending just over £50 million, they have added to all of the four positions that need covering including Simon Mignolet who replaced Pepe Reina who left on loan to Napoli this summer.


Again as previously mentioned, Liverpool have sold, relased, loaned or in Jamie Carragher’s case, retired.

Liverpool finally managed to offload Andy Carroll who signed for West Ham this summer for a fee thought to be worth just over £15 million.

Other big names include Stewart Downing who also signed for West Ham, Jonjo Shelvey who signed for Swansea and Pepe Reina who signed a season long loan deal for Napoli.

One player Liverpool fans will be thankful isn’t an ‘out’ is Uruguyan striker Luis Suarez. He was at the centre of one of the biggest transfer saga’s this summer and it didnt stop until after deadline day as Real Madrid could have launched a late bid.

    Good business,but are net spend is only £17 million pound & if you factor in the SLASHING OF THE WAGE BILL,probably less than £10 million pound.While the red sox buy the best baseball players on record breaking contracts ;-( Still doesn’t add up to me,and not sure of these new yanks intentions.
