Arsenal told to stay away from Prem star
Aston Villa man Lowton has proved his ability in the Premier League after joining from Sheffield United at the start of the season.
He arrived at Villa Park for the somewhat meagre fee of £2million, which will surely have rocketed since he has performed brilliantly against some of the world’s best attackers.
But Lambert has signalled his intent to keep hold of his best players as his side look to have overcome the scare of relegation this season.
Reports have also stated that Lambert expects to keep hold of star striker Christian Benteke and has issued a ‘hands off’ warning.
The Villa boss spoke to The Metro about Lowton: “You can’t stop people speculating. That’s football all over the world. But he’s our player.
“He’s been playing very well. If people are talking about him, that means he’s playing well.
“It becomes frustrating if you do have to lose ones when you’re trying to build. At the end of the day, the decision is my own if I let people go. That would always be the case.”
Since joining from Championship side Sheffield United in 2012, Lowton has made 36 appearances in the top tier for Villa, scoring two goals.
