Arsenal duo could make Premier League switch

Martin Jol is lining up bids for experienced midfielder Andrei Arshavin and youngster Emmanuel Frimpong in a double Arsenal swoop.

The Fulham manager wants to sign Frimpong, who is currently on loan at the club, on a permanent deal even though he has only made two appearances for the club.

He told The Express: “If there is an opportunity to take him, I’d probably do it.”

Surplus to Requirements

The 21-year-old no longer features in Arsene Wenger’s plans at The Emirates and his loan deal could be extended, or even made permanent.

The Cottagers are also thought to be interested in the Gunners’ Russian attacking midfielder Andrei Arshavin, who is deemed surplus to requirements at the Arsenal.

The 31-year-old’s contract runs out this summer, so Jol could snap-up some valuable experience for his club for free.

Arshavin’s agent Dmitri Seluk has dropped a hint that the player could be on his way to West London.

Possible Move

He said: “Top English clubs won’t take him.

“And considering the fact that he doesn’t want to leave London, the next club for Arshavin will be Fulham or something like that.”

This will be music to Jol’s ears, who could be in for a double-swoop featuring experience and youth to take advantage of Wenger’s clearout at Arsenal.
