Former Gunner describes Arsenal man as ‘unbelievable’
The Frenchman has seen pressure mounting on his back with fans unhappy with the club’s current trophy drought of eight years.
Rumours have surrounded Wenger with reports linking him to cash-rich Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain which has fuelled speculation of his possible departure.
However Song told Sky Sports: “He’s the right man.
“I spent eight years with him and he’s just unbelievable. I still keep in touch with him and the last time I met him he was very happy. Hopefully he’ll stay longer at Arsenal because if they lose him today then they won’t be the same.”
The 25-year-old moved to La Liga giants Barcelona last August for a fee believed to be £15million, but has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting 11.
In light of obvious frustration with a lack of minutes on the field, the former-Bastia man is happy to be part of such a talented crop of players.
He added: “It’s a pleasure to be here, many people want to be here so I know I’m lucky to be here.
“It is different here than Arsenal. It’s not the same. Arsenal have very good players but Barcelona have the best player in the world – Lionel Messi – and that’s why the pace is different.
“We have quality players. I’m not saying Arsenal don’t have quality players because they do, but Barcelona are the best team in the world.”
