City seal defender signing
The deal is reportedly worth £4million, according to Sky Sports, and the defender has been brought in to provide cover in defence for the likes of Vincent Kompany and replace Kolo Toure, who joined Liverpool earlier this summer.
With Kompany out for another few weeks Demichelis could provide the Manchester club with some experienced defensive cover that they are currently lacking.
City were forced to play a make-shift back four against Hull City on Saturday and with better finishing from the Tigers’ strikers City could have easily lost the game.
Without Kompany the defence looks lost at times so Demichelis will provide more reliable back-up.
Demichelis has already worked with manager Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga and the defender has only been at Madrid since his contract terminated at Malaga two months ago.
After a move for Pepe from neighbours Real Madrid it seems the Chilean manager has found the perfect move for both player and club.
Not only does the 32-year-old has top-flight Spanish experience, he also played 250 times for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga as well as making 37 appearances for Argentina.
Now, Demichelis is looking forward to starting a new chapter of his career in Manchester.
He told City’s website: “I am delighted to have joined City because I am still hungry for success and want to improve.
“I have been in Europe for 11 years now and this was a great chance for me to play in the Premier League with such a big club.
“When there is a change, there is always a process. There’s always a period of adjustment you have to go through.
“Moving from South America to Europe is a big change and you need some time to settle in because everything is new.
“But in my case, I have lived in Europe for many years and I don’t think there’ll be any problems in adjusting to life here.
“Now I want to repay the manager’s faith in me out on the pitch. I can’t wait to get started.”
