City deal Arsenal another transfer blow
The Gunners turned their attention to the Bosnian forward after accepting they are unlikely to sign their number one transfer target, Liverpool’s rebellious striker Luis Suarez.
Now, Arsenal have hit another dead end, as City boss Manuel Pellegrini has no intentions of selling 27-year-old Dzeko, having been impressed with his pre season form.
Despite the high profile signings of Alvaro Negredo and Stefan Jovetic this summer, Citizens manager Pellegrini sees Dzeko as a key member of his squad, writes the paper.
The Daily Mail state that in a press conference in Munich, Pellegrini had said: ”… I consider [Dzeko] the main striker of the team and I’m sure his performance along the season will be really good.”
Arsene Wenger has already failed in attempts to sign Stefan Jovetic, who joined City, and Gonzalo Higuain who moved to Napoli this Summer.
It is now looking ever more likely that he will lose out on Suarez having seen two bids rejected, but reports suggest Wenger will test Liverpool’s resolve with a final offer.
If all else fails, it is believed that Wenger will turn his attention to Swansea City’s in form striker Michu, who scored 18 league goals last season, in an eleventh hour bid to lure him to the Emirates.
