City and PSG draw transfer battle lines for super striker

Manchester City are set to launch a sensational war against Paris Saint Germain for the services of Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Star.

City took a profit out of the latest January transfer window after selling star striker Mario Balotelli to AC Milan whilst adding no new additions to their squad.

The Sky Blues are now eyeing a replacement for the Italian and Cavani is being targeted by the Premier League title chasers.

However, Roberto Mancini will face stiff competition from PSG, who signed David Beckham on transfer deadline day.

Cavani would have to contend with Zlatan Ibrahimovich for a striking spot in the French capital, whilst he faces even stiffer competition in Manchester against Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez.

Both clubs are also believed to be interested in Radamel Falcao, says The Star. The Columbian is a long term Chelsea target who could be a back-up signing should a bid for Cavani fail to materialise.
