Chelsea vs Manchester City: Three Key Battles

When the draw was about to be made for the FA Cup semi-finals, the neutrals were wishing that these two teams would be put together.

And when Chelsea or Manchester United vs Manchester City did turn out to be one of the Wembley matches, everyone looked forward in anticipation to what should be a cracking game.

Chelsea, despite all the glum faces around Stamford Bridge, are still on course for two trophies following their passage to the Europa League semi-final and a clash with Basel.

Their record in the FA Cup is second to none in recent years, winning the trophy in four of the last six seasons, including last year.

The road to Wembley this year hasn’t been easy though. Coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Manchester United in the last round, before winning the replay thanks to a fantastic Demba Ba goal.

It has been a little less difficult for Manchester City to get to this stage, demolishing Barnsley 5-0 in the last round, with Carlos Tevez getting a hat-trick.

Roberto Mancini’s side are bidding for a third trophy in three years; it may not be the Champions League or Premier League but fans with long memories of nothing but failure will settle for that.
