Chelsea to bid again for German star

Chelsea are to make a bid for Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle this summer, their fourth offer for the German, according to the Daily Star.

Leverkusen, who reportedly value the 22-year-old at £25million, are willing to offer the player a new contract in an attempt to fend off interest from other teams.

Exchange

The paper claims Chelsea are willing to offer a player exchange, with starlet Kevin De Bruyne, who Leverkusen are thought to be admirers of, moving the other way.

It is hoped that by offering De Bruyne, Chelsea can great reduce the fee required to purchase Schurrle.

The London club have been long-term admirers of the German sensation, following his progress since he was playing for FSV Mainz 05 in 2010.

International caps

Schurrle has been in good form for his club this season, racking up six goals and five assists in 26 league games.

He also featured for his country during Euro 2012, and has already been capped 22 times, despite his tender age.

While a deal has yet to be agreed between the two clubs, if it could be completed there is no doubt it would be yet another good purchase to add to the collection of exciting young players at Chelsea such as Oscar and Eden Hazard.
