Chelsea demand £1million for ‘keeper

Chelsea are to demand a £1million fee if Atletico Madrid want to loan Thibault Courtois for a further season, writes the Metro.

The goalkeeper has been a regular in goal for the Spanish side since 2011 having spent the past two seasons on loan.

But The Blues are to test their resolve by demanding a fee of £1million if they wish to extend the loan for another year.

Impressive

The 21-year-old has been first choice goalkeeper and has helped Atletico win the Europa League in 2012 and Copa Del Rey glory this season.

However Chelsea are set to release both back-up ‘keepers Hilario and Ross Turnbull and may be looking to bring Courtois back to the club.

The Belgian stated recently that he would like to stay at the La Liga side for one more season to gain more match experience before returning to London to challenge Petr Cech for a place between the posts.

Future Star

Thibault Courtois arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2011 from Belgian side Genk and was immediately loaned out to Atletico.

He has made 72 appearances during his two seasons in the top Spanish division and has looked more than assured in goal.

Courtois looks set to have a bright future ahead of him and is widely expected to be 31-year-old Petr Cech’s successor at Chelsea.
