Chelsea confident of deal despite late City interest

Chelsea are confident they will secure the signature of Taison despite rivals Manchester City showing an interest.

An agreement between the Blues and Russian club Metalist Kharkiv has already been struck and an £11million transfer is expected to be completed, according to the Daily Mail.

However, City look to hijack any potential deal in what could be a battle of financial power between the two clubs, both not afraid to flash the cash in the transfer market.

High Demand

The Brazilian is in high demand, with Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk also looking at the player. The increased interest has caused Metalist to increase their transfer demands by a reported £2million.

This slight change in transfer fee is not expected to put off the club’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich as he looks to rebuild his squad.

24-year-old Taison has made 57 league appearances since joining Metalist in 2010, scoring 13 goals. He has yet to make win a cap for Brazil.

Taison would become Chelsea’s second January signing after the arrival of Demba Ba from Newcastle earlier this month.
