Champions League draw – giants avoid each other

The Champions League quarter final draw in UEFA Headquarters in Switzerland has been made, and the favourites Barcelona and Real Madrid have avoided each other.
The first legs of the tie will take place on the 2nd/3rd of April, with the return legs being played the following week.
Malaga vs Borussia Dortmund
The team that has shocked us the most by reaching this stage of the competition, have picked themselves a tough tie against German side Borussia Dortmund, who have not lost one game in this year’s campaign.
The Spanish side has not once faced Dortmund in the Champions League, so it’s a tie that we will all be looking forward to. Dortmund are certainly the favourites in the tie, but nobody expected Malaga to come this far, so what’s stopping them from going even further and reaching the last four?
Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Fans of the Turkish side must have covered their eyes in horror as their team’s name was picked to face up against La Liga champions Real Madrid.
Madrid are second favoruties to lift the trophy in London on 25th May, and are firm favourites to beat Galatasaray. The Spanish giants have played the Turks three times in Europe, and have won two of those games, the other went Galatasaray’s way. Although they’re a team brimming with quality, I just can’t see Galatasaray getting past an impeccable Real Madrid outfit.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona
The favourites to win the competition will go up against French side Paris Saint-Germain, who have done very well to reach this stage of the competition.
Out of the three times the two teams have gone up against each other, there has been a win for Barca, a draw and a win for PSG, so a real mixed bag. Given that Barcelona didn’t perform so well away from home against Milan, there’s a chance that they could take a lead to the Nou Camp, but I think they’d have to do extremely well to hold one, and that’s if they even take one to Spain.
Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Probably the tie I will be looking forward to the most, as these two teams are pretty evenly matched. Bayern are in super away form, but there performances at the Allianz Arena are somewhat questionable, so this really is a tie that could go either way.
Juventus have one three of the six games they have played against Bayern Munich in Europe, Bayern have one two, and one has been a draw. Given the fact that Munich are struggling to find consistency recently, I think that Juventus might just have the chance to progress in to the last four.
