Celtic close in on double signing
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has said that his side are on the verge of a double swoop for an Israeli midfielder and a Finnish forward.
Finnish star Teemu Pukki is close to signing for Scottish side Celtic just days after the Premier League side made it through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, according to Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, Israeli international midfielder Nir Biton has already joined the Scottish giants from FC Ashdod on a four-year deal after Lennon had told the broadcaster the deal was almost done.
He added: “He will come into the squad so that will freshen us up.”
Lennon also claimed that Celtic had agreed a fee with Schalke for Pukki, but they were still to agree personal terms with the forward.
Both players when they sign will be available for Celtic’s Champions League campaign.
Celtic qualified for the group stage of the Champions League on Wednesday after a dramatic 3-2 win over Shakhter Karagandy.
The Scottish side were part of the draw for the group stage on Thursday, and were placed in Group H, alongside Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax, all previous winners of the tournament.
Lennon added to the broadcaster: “It could have been easier.
“Three big teams and we know it’s going to be difficult.”
