Benzema deal is out of our hands, says Wenger
Wenger admits that a deal is only likely if Luis Suarez moves to the Bernabeu, a deal which is looking ever less likely to happen.
After already failing to land Suarez this transfer window the pressure is building on the Arsenal man to bring in his profile signings before the door slams shut on September 2nd.
However Wenger believes the Suarez could still make a move to Spain.
Wenger said. “It’s not the moment. One day, why not? I’ve just said it’s over. We have to get on with our lives. You seem to know as much as I know about the situation so I don’t think we need for me to clarify that. You’ve certainly tried to go out with a girl and find she has chosen someone else. You don’t commit suicide.”
Wenger’s strange dating analogy links in with Brendan Rogers saying that he expects more bids for Suarez before the end of the transfer window.
Liverpool don’t need to sell and don’t want to, therefore Benzema, who also doesn’t want to leave, is highly unlikely to be heading to the Emirates.
Wenger is still looking at other options including Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle. The report says an offer of £17 million for the French midfielder could be on the cards.
The north London club are also looking at Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria and Valencia goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita.
A surprise transfer could be former player Mathieu Flamini who has been training with the club for the past two weeks. However Wenger gave nothing away “I don’t say there is no chance [on Flamini] and I don’t say there is a chance,”
A lack of cash signings however could start to annoy some fans who feel they need more quality.
