Aston Villa star keen to push through move to Spurs

Christian Benteke wants to force through a move to Tottenham Hotspur by avoiding a  return to Aston Villa for pre-season training.

The striker is due to report back on Thursday after he was left out of their tour to Germany – but is keen for his club to sort out a quick deal, reported The Mirror.

Forcing his way out

The Belgian striker handed in a transfer request last week – just months after the end of his debut season in the Premier League, in which he almost single handed kept the Villans in the top tier.

He is determined to force through a move to White Hart Lane, and has been promised a regular starting berth by Spurs.

Benteke is supposed to report back on Tuesday, and is currently enjoying his time off in Belgium.

Holding out

The Lilywhites are set to offer Villa £20m for their star forward, however the Midlands club are going to hold out for an offer of £25m.

The 22-year-old will be forced to return to the club next week to avoid being fined a proportion of his £20,000 a week salary.

He will also be aware of the need to get himself up to match fitness to hit the new season running, with whomever he ends up playing for.
