Arsenal man must lose weight
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is trying to shed some unwanted weight and regain his fitness as he trains alone in a Copenhagen boot camp, according to the Mirror.
The Danish striker has a personal trainer at the camp to oversee his weight loss and fitness program.
Thomas Jorgensen is the name of the personal trainer and it’s his view that Bentner could be match fit by the end of the month.
Jorgensen said, as reported by the newspaper: “He needs more fitness and has had a few problems, but it is not as if he needs to lose 20 kilogrammes.”
Having spent all summer trying to engineer a move away from North London, Bendtner’s fitness has clearly suffered as yesterday pictures were published in a Danish newspaper of the striker looking overweight.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has named Bendtner in his 25-man Premier League squad that was submitted last week but still thinks the striker is weeks away from being able to challenge for a spot in the first team.
And on top of his fitness issues, the frontman went under the knife to rectify a thigh problem recently and still needs to complete the rehabilitation needs that come with the procedure, the report says.
The paper goes on to say that Bendtner has fallen way down the pecking order at the Emirates and it’s their opinion that despite Wenger’s claims that a striker shortage could yet still see the Danish striker feature at some point, it is hard to see it actually happening.
Bendtner has been out on loan a number of times in the past two years but has not managed to convince any suitors of his qualities so finds himself back at Arsenal again.
If he doesn’t get much game time between now and January, it’s hard to see the striker not pushing for a move as the transfer window opens again.
