Arsenal star’s contract talks break down

bacary-sagna

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is said to be closer to leaving the club, after contract doors broke down, reports Goal.com.

The Gunners are ready to press ahead with selling the Frenchman in the summer, and PSG are said to be favourites to snap him up.

Wenger is said to be fed up with Sagna’s attitude, something that has been privately called into question after he was offered a 12-month extension on his contract, which expires in 2014.

Sources suggest that the right-back has cut an ‘angry’ and ‘unhappy’ figure in recent times, following the clubs refusal to increase his wages.

Breakdown

Contract negotiations have now again broken down, and are unlikely to be reconciled any time soon.

He has told team-mates that he expects to leave in the summer, and the French club are said to be leading the chase for him, in a deal worth around £10million.

Arsenal’s initial decision not to offer Sagna a long-term deal was based on a number of factors, including his age, his injury record, after suffering two broken legs in a year, and his criticism of the club for selling Robin van Persie and Alex Song last summer.

The defender has done nothing to force a u-turn since the contract offer, and has delivered a series of mixed performances in recent months and his attitude in training sessions has also been called into question by the boss.
