Arsenal and Chelsea could suffer transfer blow

Monaco have entered the race to sign Arsenal and Chelsea target Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to reports.

The Sevilla midfielder is the subject of interest from several clubs, but talkSPORT claims the mega-rich French side could rival the London duo for his signature.

The Frenchman has been tipped for big things since joining the La Liga club from Lens in 2012, and his switch to Sevilla seems to have put him right in the spotlight.

According to the radio station, Real Madrid are among the other clubs interested in Kondogbia, but it is the presence of Monaco in the race which may prove more of a threat for Arsenal and Chelsea.

Claudio Ranieri’s side have already snapped up the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho, with Monaco seemingly enjoying a transfer pot with no limits.

The radio station claims Kondogbia is open to a summer move, which is a statement which will surely have alerted his many suitors.

The 20-year-old is usually deployed in a role in front of the back four, which is a position Arsenal in particular have been looking to strengthen for a number of seasons.

Chelsea, too, have not sufficiently replaced Claude Makelele since he left, so it is clear to see why both clubs are interested in the talented Sevilla man.
