Argentine ‘set to lead Man City exodus’

Manchester City are set to radically shake up their squad this summer, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror claims Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri will be the most high-profile casualties as manager Roberto Mancini looks to rebuild his side.

The newspaper also reports that Scott Sinclair, Maicon and Aleksandar Kolarov will be shown the door, while the futures of Gareth Barry and James Milner are in the balance.

City fell 10 points behind Manchester United in the Premier League title race yesterday after the Red Devils’ 1-0 win at Fulham, and the reigning champions must defeat Liverpool today to keep themselves in the running.

However, it may come as something of a surprise that Mancini is ready to rebuild a squad which won the Premier League title just nine months ago.

Tevez missed much of last season after going AWOL, but the 28-year-old has scored eight goals in 14 games in all competitions so far this campaign.

That is a decent return, but the newspaper claims he has no intention of signing a new contract at the Etihad Stadium and City could be ready to cash in on him.

Dzeko, meanwhile, has also shown good form this term, with 10 league goals to his name so far, but the Bosnian striker has overall failed to live up to his £27million price tag.

That is a similar story to that of Frenchman Nasri, who is also rumoured to be on the way out by the newspaper and moved to City from Arsenal for £25million.

Sinclair and Maicon have struggled to make an impact since joining last summer, Kolarov has failed to hold down a regular starting spot and the pair of Barry and Milner have shown good work-rates but could also leave, it is claimed.

The Mirror claims the Citizens are already planning for next season, when their squad could look significantly different.

Mancini is already working with chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain on a potential overhaul, the newspaper reports.

Letting the aforementioned players go would also free up funds and space for new arrivals, and the club reportedly hope to cut £12million off their annual wage bill by selling them.

The Mirror also claims Richard Wright, Roque Santa Cruz, Kolo Toure and Wayne Bridge will be among several other players to be released in the summer, while Mario Balotelli has already left for around £20million.

I think Scott Sinclair must be the angriest man in the Premier League, he was a genuine prospect when City signed him and he has completed gone to waste.
